We highly encourage player-run plots, especially ones tat potentially give us ideas AND help improve on world-building. So if you have a player-plot that everyone can be involved in, please go ahead and post it here for the mods to look at. We'd love to work with you on it to make sure it fits the setting and everyone has fun.

As usual, fill out the form below.

Player Name: Chicklet
Character Involved: Agatha Heterodyne
Plot Duration: a couple weeks sounds good, shorter if the mods prefer.
Plot Summary with Conclusion: plot does not need heroes. So here the plot is: Abgatha has built a small army of dingbots. (more info on the dingbots for the curious) Dingbots are basically pocket watch sized clanks (robots)that are smart, imaginative, and often choose for themselves how to serve her. In this case, she's forgotten to tell this new group "do not steal". So when she gets busy working, they dash off throughout the town looking for parts and tools. They generally try for things they think won't be missed, but aren't always the most careful. So they've been taking random things from all around town, spirals from spiral bound notebooks, paper clips, broken mechanical pencils, loose screws and nails....

When in the Madness Place, Agatha doesn't pay attention to things like who is helping her, or where her materials and tools come from (Which is why she doesn't always notice she's CREATING some of her tools as she goes). When she is out of the Madness place she just figures they found a dump site or scrap yard, since that is where she generally gets parts from and she doesn't know that no such place exists here....

So the solution to the plot is calling Agatha's attention to the thefts when she is NOT in the Madness, though I am happy to thread with anyone who wants to deal with the Madness as well!

For this plot, she will be unreachable while in the Maddness.

The Madness place is a bit hard to explain, I will do my best. The wikia does a decent job, if you read the pop outs. But I will try to be more succinct here so you can read mine, or the wikia, or both.

The madness place is a state of mind where the Spark becomes focused on a task - usually building, but things like combat could also trigger it - to the exclusion of pretty much all else or drawing all else into being part of that task.

Some Key examples are When Agatha and Gil, in a flying machine that isn't working, start out trying to just fix it so they don't die and then kind of forget about the falling part. Gil wants to unbolt the engine while they're still falling, Agatha was still new enough to the Madness that thankfully Zoing was able to startle her out of it. At one point Agatha builds something and Gil wound up drawn into acting as her minion, and when she snapped out of it when the machine was built, she had no memory of building it, and neither of them had a clue what it did. (It turns out it was a machine to rescue Othar.) Perhaps the best (non-violent) example for Agatha though is the coffee engine, since that story line shows her minionizing people, as well as the response of two older people very used to working with Heterodynes specifically and Sparks in general. (Though the speed speech is from Agatha having coffee for the first time and isn't part of the Madness in general. The June 8th is the last page you need to read in that set to get the example.)

Agatha additionally Heterodynes, which is used in the above example, but that is a whole other thing.

But in short, when in the Madness, until she finishes her project, is knocked out, or is somehow artificially calmed, Agatha sees everything in terms of the current project or doesn't see it at all. If she gives someone an order and they ignore her, she tends to forget they're even there. If someone tries to stop or interrupt her they either fail to get her attention or she might react violently. (And the combination of the Madness place and death rays is not a good one.) She will have no sense of scale or common sense while in the Madness. And more than half the time she will have no clue when she's done what she's actually made. Especially when she starts building in her sleep, which is how it will be for this plot.

And no, they probably wouldn't take anything obviously valuable. It isn't that they're looking to steal, they're looking to get the parts she demanded. They might steal a tool maybe, but she's been making her own, so probably not. It really is all small petty stuff. But for the plot they could take something that seems small and nothing but is actually sentimental enough to upset someone, like a tie pin or a money clip, or a pen that was given for a special anniversary or something.

And yes, if she does something stupid and gets arrested, I am happy to plot IC consequences.
