Canon updates are allowed! They will go to bed and have a dream that feels suspiciously real. When they wake up they'll find themselves slumped up against the Info Hub. Jerry is happy to see you and offers them a coupon to a business of the player's choice before he asks: "How was your trip home?" Or, if there there was some kind of epic battle and your character was injured they'll just wake up in the hospital. The doctors and nurses might even mention they gave them a scare!
